With photography and product renders, we want to capture the brand qualities – welcoming, bold, and dependable – in the most authentic way: by capturing a scene exactly as it appears without direction or manipulation. We connect with customers by showing (and knowing) the trials and joy of operating a restaurant.
These photos are approved to use in various assets such as presentation decks and customer-facing communications. Please contact the Brand Team if you have specific photography needs.
Access the libraryPhotography with Toast starts with capturing an authentic environment. We represent restaurants of all types and sizes, and also the diversity of owners and workers that power them. To best connect with our customer, photographs should always match the character and mood of the restaurant being shot. Toast serves restaurants in hundreds of communities across the country, so it’s critical that our photography reflects the diversity of our customers.
Toast connects all elements of a restaurant with its solutions. When selecting imagery, look for moments that capture truth behind each side of the house and communicate believability in each environment. For example: Front of house should be interacting with guests, while back of house should be focused on food preparation and interaction between staff.
We focus on restaurant people. They can see themselves in our brand through the way we capture craft through food, camaraderie, and the guest experience. People should always be shown in their natural working environments and look candid and warm. We should show them interacting with one another, and highlight teamwork between front and back of house staff.
When showcasing our product, we keep it in its day-to-day context. Toast products should be used in context of the restaurant environment, and focus on interactions with guests. They can also be overlaid on top of restaurant environments to suggest how they work together to create higher levels of hospitality.
Use the Toast brand colors as a styling element when appropriate, but do not adjust photographs to add our primary palette into the imagery.
Build trust and authority by capturing authentic moments rather than using stock photography where the models are retouched and “perfect.”
Avoid images that look overly posed. Always capture servers and restaurateurs interacting with guests, not the camera.
When possible, always capture the Toast logo on the device. Do not use cut off or blur out the Toast logo when products are shown.
With the exception of studio hardware shots, always shoot in context. Prioritize light, bright environments with natural light focused on the subject.
